Richard & Kathy Hendrickson Dear Birthmother Open Adoption Letter

You are so special, and not because Ive said so but because forever and always you have been a part of Gods plan

Hi, we are Richard and Kathy Hendrickson We admire your courage and selflessness for considering open adoption. We believe that placing your baby for adoption is truly a selfless act of love. We hope that this letter will give you a glimpse into our lives and you will see just how much we want a child to love. We feel that our childs life will be enriched by having contact with their birth mother. We know that open adoption is the right choice for everyone involved. We are excited to have an open relationship with you that feels comfortable for all of us. We feel blessed that you have chosen to take the time to read our letter. Thank you!

We met in 1995 while Richard was stationed in the military at Camp Lejeune, NC. A mutual friend helped the two of us find one another. During a small, intimate ceremony in February of 1997 we were married among close family and friends. Our bond and commitment have only grown stronger through our years of marriage. Kathy has an Associates degree in early childhood education. This degree will allow us the option of obtaining a license for an in-home daycare so that Kathy can remain at home and raise our child. Presently, she is a teacher assistant at an elementary school. She has also been the director of an after school program for three years. Richard is currently employed as a North Carolina Highway Patrolman.

We are excited to hear from you. If you feel that we may be the couple who can provide a loving home for your child, please contact us. You can call us toll-free anytime at 1-800-301-0377 Pin#77, or call the Independant Adoption Center at 800-877-OPEN or E-mail us at [email protected]
God bless you and the child that you are carrying.

We live in Watha, NC which is a small community just north of Wilmington. Our next door neighbors are Kathys parents. Not only will our child be able to have a close relationship with their grandparents, but they will have lots of room to run and play with our Jack Russell Terrier. Nikki loves the outdoors and is always looking for children to kick the ball and run with her. We cant wait to spend quiet evenings at home cuddling and reading stories to our precious little one. Regardless of what we are doing, we know that we will cherish each moment that we spend with our child.

Taking a joy ride!

Kathy is dedicated to and cares for each of the children that she teaches. She loves spending her days working with the children. She enjoys taking the children crabbing, hiking, canoeing, and on many other adventures. In my eyes Kathy can create miracles. She is the one that God has destined for me. Kathy wants a child to love and snuggle with more than anything in the world, just as she knows I do. I know that Kathy will make a terrific mother.

Richard is the most loving, caring, and thoughtful man that I know. I knew the first time that I met him that he was the love of my life and that we would be spending the rest of our lives together. He loves his job, but he is always willing to make time to be with me. Mara, our goddaughter, just loves to spend time with Richard and enjoys his special stories at bedtime. He will make a wonderful father. I love Richard so much and I know that we can provide a happy home for a child.

Our Interests
We envision ourselves spending weekends at our family home at the beach, collecting seashells and building sand castles with our child. We cant wait to experience the joys of teaching our child how to swim and fish. We also enjoy taking summer vacations to amusement parks with our friends and their children. We are excited to be able to relax on the back porch with our family and share stories with our child. We have a yearly tradition of making sugar cookies and then sharing them with all of our friends and family at Christmas time. We know our child will enjoy this tradition as much as we do.

Our Family
We have a strong network of close family and friends. We feel truly blessed to be able to share holidays and special times often with them. Whether its cookouts, family vacations to the mountains or the beach, sightseeing, playing with cousins, relaxing times at home, or Sundays at our family church, our child will know how important and special family relationships are. We are excited to have a child that we can teach family values and share in our lives. All of the grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins are excited about a new addition to the family. They cant wait to start organizing a baby shower and are beginning to make homemade quilts for our baby and nursery.
