Securing Kevlar

I like to use tubular kevlar to make a short two foot section of my recovery harness so that it can handle the ejection heat.

This is a picture of how I secure the ends to rings.

1) Take a metal ring (a single chain link works well) and put about 6in through it.

2) Take a piece of ~1/4in brass tube about 4in long and roll the end of the kevlar and stuff it into the brass tube then secure with tape.

3) Open the weave just past where the link is and feed the brass tube through the weave to the inside of the tubular kevlar.

4) Feed the cord back into itself till its tight against the ring.

5)Now just feed the brass tube back out of the kevlar and pull loose.

The kevlar cant pull out of itself because the more you pull it the tighter it holds.
I usually do this to both ends and secure them with quick links.
