| MY TRIP TO HEAVEN |
| I took a trip to heaven, In a dream the other night. One glimpse of that fair city, Filled my soul with delight. When I came to Jordan's River, There was darkness all around, But I heard a sweet voice say to me, Just lay all your burdens down. I felt no fear within me, As I crossed the rolling waves, I felt a firm hand holding mine, And I heard that sweet voice say: Your journey's almost over now, Your home's not far away; Soon you will see that city fair, Where night is turned to day. Just then the darkness ended, It just seemed to disappear. A dazzling light surrounded me, I was shining like a star. I closed my eyes for just a moment, The beauty was so great. Then a band of angels beckoned me, To enter Heaven's gate. I heard the sweetest singing, I had ever heard before. I was singing love's sweet story, Like I'd never sang before. Yes, I heard the sweetest songs, About this land so fair, But nothing I had ever heard, Could with this compare. I saw my God and Father, And there at His right hand, I saw my blessed Savior, With nail-scared feet and hands. Down an my knees before Him, Those blessed feet I kissed. Those feet that walked to Calvary, That I might know this bliss. My loved ones gathered around me, But some I could not find. I searched each face and then I knew, That they were left behind. When I awoke I cried: " Dear God, O please don't let it be, Give me love and wisdom, Lord, To bring them home with me." |
