Florae Terrarum

I

Orchids

As you blush blue
amid living lavender, know
the void won't vanquish
the dream he watered.

Living lavender, lovingly kept,
becomes the bridge between --
a Taelon sunset tinged
with his maverick serenity.

II

Lilies

Rooted in hope, floating in doubt --
each a lily in the pond
of the other's soul.

He, Star Lily, reflects:
"There is a depth in your waters
my roots cannot reach."

She, Sky Lily, replies:
"That depth conceals a place
where the void must root instead."

He, Star Lily, all solace:
"Fill that unhealthy hole
with our blooming friendship."

She, Sky Lily, all sadness:
"That hole, that wound, is war's price --
Filled with snapped stems and shredded petals."

He, Star Lily, with conviction:
"Grievous compost, mulch of remembrance,
let me reach and not repeat."

Rooted in hope, floating in doubt --
each a lily in the pond
of the other's soul.

III

Shamrocks

An opal being blushes blue
on sighting green of Eire.
Stardust falls on clover.

Stardust and fairydust mingle,
causing the shamrocks to sneeze,
awake, and welcome him.

"And I greet you --
You, the growing luck
of my protectorate.

I stride in past clover,
but see a future plant --
a three-leaf shamrock.

Seeded under native sun.
Watered by two foreign storms --
the luck of my offspring."

IV

Cactus

Blushing blue, he ponders
the implanted cactus in his garden --
stately, straight, secret.

Enhanced pores soak
the water of knowledge within,
and the cactus' flowers bloom.

But, the cactus no longer blooms
for him, who sits blushing blue.
For him, only needles of seeming treason.

V

Flytrap

Blushing blue, the lily
confronts the flytrap:
"Did you think, cannibal,
the orchid sap you spilled
would not seep through
our shared roots?"

The flytrap, coldly preening,
answers the lily:
"The orchid's roots were withered,
and its petals were scorched.
Merciful mastication was my aim.
Why call me cannibal?"

The lily, sighing white,
reminds the flytrap:
"Cannibal, in this garden,
Our salvation, fellow orchid,
sustained our lives.
grafting us forever into one soul."

VI

Ivy

Ivy --
You cling to the walls
of your hidden fortress.

Ivy --
You cling to Passion Flower's
virtual vine.

Ivy --
You cling to the sound
of your pride.

Ivy --
You cling to the sound
of your paranoia.

Ivy --
You cling as Star Lily's
blushing petals brush you.
