So Who's This "Rich D." Person, Anyway? Hello, there! My name is Richard Daugherty. My wife Linda and I make our home in Mission Viejo, only a few minutes from the world-famous Spanish Mission at San Juan Capistrano. We're about half-way between Los Angeles and San Diego along the (usually) sunny Southern California coast. |
|
What We're About Im a software developer for Symbol Technologies in Costa Mesa, California, while Linda is an executive assistant for Toshiba America Medical Systems in Tustin. Weve lived our entire lives here in Southern California, and have seen it change dramatically over the years (nope, wont say how many). |
|
Our Other Hobbies My wife and I enjoy listening to music, reading, photography, snorkelling and generally enjoying the out of doors. Linda has been sewing since she was old enough to handle a needle and operate a sewing machine, and is currently fascinated by Hawaiian quilting. I'm a frustrated writer and usually satisfy my journalistic urges by writing technical documentation at work. Linda loves to follow the goings-on of British royalty and is magnetically drawn to the biography section of any bookstore we happen upon. I'm a member of Toastmasters International (currently in pursuit of my CTM), and occasionally plunk away at the guitar until my finger tips start to remind me that I don't practice enough. |
Our Dreams
Beside the typical dream of winning the lottery, we want to make our permanent
home on the
Big Island of Hawaii
and come back to the mainland to visit whenever we like. (Four out of our
nine trips to Hawai'i have been to the Big Island. We highly recommend the
Outrigger Waikoloa Beach Hotel on the Kohala Coast. Just tell "Auntie
Mabel" at the
Pleasant Hawaiian Activities Desk that
the Daughertys sent you. She'll take good care of you.) World travel is also
something we're both looking forward to. Whereas Linda is fascinated
with the idea of touring Europe, I'd like to thoroughly explore the South
Pacific.

A Shameless (and unpaid) Endorsement
My favorite magazine, bar none, is ISLANDS MAGAZINE. I always read
it cover-to-cover, sometimes as soon as it arrives in the mail. I
HIGHLY recommend this magazine. It's like nothing
else on the market, and is definitely NOT written by the likes of certain
amateur "journalist" hacks looking for a couple of bucks for the
story they whipped out on the way home from some all-expenses-paid charter trip
to some glitzy, overrated tourist-trap of a resort. The contributors include
seasoned professional photo-journalists as well as an assortment of ordinary
people who posses a deep love of islands and an extra-ordinary talent for
communicating their passions in picture and print. Try it, you'll like it! And
then, let me know what you think. To
subscribe to Islands
or contact their editorial or advertising departments, check out their website at
http://www.islandsmag.com/.After you've had a chance to look over the magazine, please drop me a note and let me know what you think of Islands. |
