I-95 Truck Lanes Dream
I dreamed that I was driving along I-80 headed towards New York City when I saw a sign reading: “I-95 Truck Lanes Now Open.” This was one of those variable message signs that flashed the message, and when I got onto I-95 about to cross the George Washington Bridge, I noticed that the truck lanes were to the right of me, and there were two ramps specifically designed for separate traffic. One ramp was for cars, and the other was for the big trucks. After I paid the toll, I crossed the bridge into New York and kept noticing the two sets of ramps at each interchange. Soon, I exited off the interstate and decided to investigate the setup. I asked a motorist who was filling up his car, and he explained to me that the right lanes on I-95 from Maine to Florida had been converted into trucks-only lanes. He also went on to say that the outer lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike became part of the initial experiment, and when the experiment was a success, other states along the I-95 corridor decided to add truck lanes to their own sections of the highway. The motorist went on to predict that within a decade, all interstates will have truck lanes separated from the car lanes. When I awoke, I suddenly recalled an article I recently saw online about the possibility of truck lanes on I-70 across the Midwest. If you ask me, this is one of the best ideas to ever come along since the invention of the automobile, and in my opinion, they should have thought of this a long time ago. 2007-07-24 17:32:41 GMT
