A Dream About James Taylor and Jesus
For those of you familiar with James Taylor's music, this dream's for you... I dreamed that I was driving down I-94 towards Detroit, when I saw a series of strange occurrences. On an I-94 shield by the side of the road, there was a faint drawing of a bearded man with long hair, and the same image appeared on another I-94 shield. And then another, and then another. Finally I had to stop at one of the signs to take a closer look, and I suddenly figured out what the image represented. It was Jesus, and just as I had cracked the mystery, the James Taylor song "You've Got a Friend" came on the radio. I stared at the Jesus on the sign a little longer, and got lost in both the image and the song. Then I got back in my car, and before I drove off, I wrote down a few lyrics that might have some religious connection, like "When you're down/in trouble/and you need a helping hand..." and "Soon I will be knocking upon your door", which reminded me of stories of Christ himself knocking on the door of someone in need. I woke up thinking the whole song was religious in and of itself. I'm not saying James Taylor was a gospel artist, but that's the same way I feel about the song that I always have. I welcome any and all thoughts on the whole dream. 2007-07-02 21:06:15 GMT
