Pittsburgh Steelers Dream
I dreamed that I was driving along I-279 in Pittsburgh, when I saw a strange and familiar sight: There were life-sized statues of various Pittsburgh Steelers players lining the highway. I saw Terry Bradshaw, Franco Harris, Mean Joe Greene, Ben Roethlisberger, Jerome Bettis, and many other great names in team history. And then, coaches Chuck Noll and Bill Cowher were holding a big sign that showed the way to Heinz Field, the Steelers' home stadium. So I followed the signs to the stadium, and when I got there, someone had put the finishing touches on another Mean Joe statue, but this time, he was handed a Coke bottle by a child statue, making this scene a reenactment of an actual Coke commercial from years ago. The two statues were located outside the stadium entrance, and when I walked up to the entrance, the construction crew shouted in unison: "Welcome to Heinz Field, Home of the Pittsburgh Steelers!" I asked them what those statues were doing on the Interstate, and they said they wanted to show the world just how proud Pittsburgh is of its football team. They also told me they were the same ones who constructed the giant ketchup bottle at both endzone entrances, because after all, Heinz is headquartered in Pittsburgh. I asked the men if they were planning on making Pirates statues, and they replied: "We'll think about it, but there's nobody on the current Pirates team worth mentioning. But we could use Willie Stargell, Roberto Clemente, and Bill Mazeroski for our next project." Then I woke up, amazed at what I had seen in the dream. The first thought that came to mind was: "Maybe we could build statues of famous Detroiters and line the freeways with them," just as the Steelers on I-279. And I'll bet you won't believe what you read about this dream, either! 2007-06-21 16:33:26 GMT
