I-73 Dream
I dreamed that I was driving through Lansing on the US 127 freeway, and I saw a few construction men put up an I-73 shield right next to the one for US 127. I thought to myself, "Weren't they telling me a few years ago that they won't build I-73?" (Last time I heard, there are currently no plans for I-73 in the Wolverine State.) But there it was, an I-73 sign going up on the highway. I saw another, then another, and then another. And then there was a BGS overhead that read, "I-73 North/US 127 North, Sault Ste. Marie." I smiled at the prospect of driving the new Interstate, and I just continued on without stopping. Then I exited somewhere and stopped at a service station, where I ran into a lovely female motorist. We had a long conversation, and then I brought up the subject of the Interstate. She told me that a source close to the Michigan state government informed her of the agreement to bring I-73 north to the state, thanks to a deal they couldn't say no to. There was no word as to whether I-73 had been completed in its entirety, but another driver who stopped by did tell me that as he was getting onto I-73 (coming from Sault Ste. Marie), he saw a sign that showed the distance to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, so that meant the Interstate was indeed complete to the Carolinas. Maybe this should spark some action from not only Michigan, but also the Ohio, West Virginia, and Virginia state governments to build their own sections of I-73, so that they can be on the same page as North and South Carolina. We'll just see about that...
