Highway of Dreams
A roadgeek can dream, can't he?
US 23 Tornado Dream

I dreamed that I was driving on US 23 west of Detroit. The dream started out with the sky being light, but then it turned grey and I heard sirens. That's when I knew a tornado was coming somewhere through where I was. I stopped, got out of the car, and found the nearest ditch I could possibly find and then took cover. As the tornado blew through, everything was sucked up in its path, and a few vehicles were tossed about here and there. Finally, when it was all over, I walked back to the highway to investigate the damage. I tried to find my car, but it was no longer there. However, I did see lots of mangled-up cars, trucks and SUV's that were sucked up and thrown in all directions. Then I saw a tow truck coming up the highway with my car still intact. "You know, you're very lucky that your car survived the storm," said the driver as he got out of his truck. I asked him what he was doing with my car, and he said, "I moved it for you, out of harm's way. I saw the tornado move across the road, so I relocated it in a safe place a mile and a half down." As it turned out, I was a half-mile from where the tornado had crossed the highway, and suddenly, it was clear why all those vehicles ahead were damaged from the storm. It was powerful enough to throw them as much as a mile away. I was lucky that I escaped without one of them falling on me, or I would be dead! And then I awoke, unable to believe what I had dreamed about.
