Highway of Dreams
A roadgeek can dream, can't he?
Montreal Dream
I dreamed that I was driving on A-10 to Montreal, and I had a series of strange occurrences happen to me. I turned on the radio, but all I could find were French-language stations. Then I stopped in to pick up a local newspaper. It, too, was printed in French. And everyone there was speaking French. Suddenly, I had an idea, and decided to buy an English-French dictionary, as well as the newspaper. After I paid for it, the first thing I said was "Merci." I must confess, it's been a while since I last studied French. I took French courses for all four years in high school, and I've been to Montreal and Quebec City, but never Paris. It wasn't very long before I fit in with the Montrealers, discussing various topics completely in French. I also told them how Detroit was founded by a Frenchman, Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac. Of course, his name is now synonymous with premium American luxury vehicles. I thanked everyone in their native tongue, and I left with a better knowledge of Montreal. Who knows, I might dream about Paris, or even New Orleans!
