I'm not writing about a dream, but it sure is a nightmare in the Twin Cities. Of course, I'm talking about the I-35W bridge collapse. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims in this sad, unfortunate tragedy. While it's not the first time an interstate bridge has collapsed (remember I-40 a few years back?), this has become a prime example of why we take our bridges for granted so much that we almost never think about the safety of the bridges, at least not unless we're engineers of the DOT. While this is technically not a dream, it would certainly make for a great nightmare story to write about. Maybe next time, when new freeways are built, overpass and underpass safety will become a bigger priority than it ever was before. I'll certainly be hoping for that.
