| What is a concept map? A concept map is a mindtool used to organize thoughts and ideas. Concept maps "are used by learners to represent what they know or are learning as multidimensional networks of concepts." (Jonassen, 1999 p. 59.) |

| This map was made by Jim and me during class using Inspiration. It describes the process used to make a concept map. In creating this map, we repeatedly asked ourselves what steps did we take to create our other maps? The different colors in this map denote the three main concepts that we chose in making a concept map. In making this map, we realized that many of the nodes or bubbles can be interrelated, which, when used in a classroom demonstrates a student's ability to analyze the ideas. | ||||||||||||||||||
| The following is another example of a concept map. I created this map as a guideline to follow when having students present PowerPoint presentations. This organizes the information that would be required for a presentation, and would be used to develop a rubric. When I was making this, I had trouble coming up with a main idea. Once I got started, my ideas started to flow, which may be the case when using concept maps in the classroom. | ||||||||||||||||||
