The Author
Born in Canada, at an early age and raised in England.
In 1974, at the age of sixteen, I got my first bike, well moped (the law at the time) a Puch Maxi. Then I progressed to a Puch VF50, I'm brave to admit this! At seventeen I bought an RD200, which I used to pass my test. In 1976 I traded that in for a brand new Yamaha RD400C, at a cost of around 640. I rode it for four years through all weathers, to work, on holiday but mostly for fun, a great bike. Tired of getting cold and wet in winter, I bought a Mini and said goodbye to the RD and motorcycling, or so I thought. A few years before leaving England, I owned an RS200 which was cheap to run and easy to park at work. But that was sold, along with my two Alfa Romeos when I moved to Canada in 1997.
In the town where I now live is a motorcycle store, which pulled me towards it like a magnet. The urge to own a bike was again returning. There would be no doubt as to which one it would be, a Yamaha RD400.

These two bikes above were not mine, but look the same as the ones I previously owned. A 74ish Puch Maxi and a 75ish Puch VF50. Memories!
This is me at my happiest, if I'm not riding a Yamaha two stroke, then I like to be tinkering with one.
My first experience on two wheels was dad's Lambretta in Bermuda. "Mum, where's the keys"
