FEATURES:
RCTPatch is a program that will enable the use of trainers with the Added Attractions/Corkscrew Follies and Loopy Landscapes expansion packs for RollerCoaster Tycoon. Without this patch it may be impossible to load a savegame on which a trainer has been used.
This patch will perform the following:
- It will prevent the "Invalid Data" message from appearing when attempting to load a valid saved game on which a trainer has been used.
- It will allow you to replace the ride music with your own music without freezing the game. See the "Music.txt" document for instructions.
- It will prevent the ride reliability from dropping to zero if you have used a trainer to modify a coaster to exceed its normal specifications, such as the use of an unconventional train type, or setting a non-launchable coaster to launch mode with extreme launch speeds.
- It will allow you to load any saved game, even if you don't have access to that scenario yet.
- It will NOT enable you to play a pirated version of RCT or its expansion packs.
- It will NOT allow you to play RCT without the CD.
- It will NOT perform any cheat functions. An actual trainer is required to cheat.

RCTPatch v07.12.01 supports the following versions for all languages:
- 1.10.016 (unpatched AA/CF)
- 1.10.019 (first official patch for AA/CF)
- 1.10.021 (second official patch for AA/CF)
- 1.10.026 (third official patch for AA/CF)
- 1.20.012 (unpatched LL)
- 1.20.013 (first official patch for LL)
- 1.20.001 (new version of LL in Australia by OziSoft)

RCTPatch v07.12.01 does not support the following versions:
- 1.08.183 (second official patch for RCT)
- 1.08.187 (third official patch for RCT)

AA/CF is an abbreviation for Added Attractions or Corkscrew Follies
LL is an abbreviation for Loopy Landscapes
RCT is an abbreviation for RollerCoaster Tycoon

NOTE: The version number of this patch corresponds to the date it was released (mmddyy).

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Backup your RCT.EXE file. To do this simply open Explorer, browse to your RCT directory, right-click on RCT.EXE and select copy. Paste it into a backup folder.
2) Make sure RCT is not running.
3) Double-click rctpatch.exe to begin installation. It will first locate the directory to which you have installed RCT and then ask you if you want to continue with the patch. Answer "Yes" After a short moment RCTPatch will give you a status report.
4) If the installation was successful, the following message should appear. "Patch was successful".
5) Open RCT.

INSTALLATION TIP:
- Make a copy of the unpatched RCT.EXE, e.g. copy it to RCT-PATCHED.EXE
- Using the Explorer window, drag the copy onto RCTPATCH.EXE
- Now RCTPatch will patch this copy, instead of the default RCT.EXE
- Play the patched version by running RCT-PATCHED.EXE or the original version with RCT.EXE.
- This is useful because you won't have to uninstall RCTPatch in case you want to upgrade RCT with an official patch.
---------------------------------------------------
UNINSTALLATION:
- If you have Loopy Landscapes and the latest version of RCTPatch installed, it's very easy to uninstall. You simply have to give it the command line option "/u". To do this, go to your start menu, select "Run...", and enter the path where RCTPatch is located on your computer, followed by "/u". For example:
C:\Games\RCT\rctpatch /u
- If you don't have Loopy Landscapes, it is still possible to uninstall RCTPatch, but it slightly different. There are in fact several ways to do this. Choose whichever you find easier:
1) Reinstall CF/AA. You do not need to uninstall it first. Just perform the installation again, you'll keep all your savegames and scenario progress. To do this, insert the AA/CF CD, and close the autorun menu. Click on the Windows Start button, select "Run..." and enter "x:\setup", where x: is your CD drive letter. This method should replace all files that RCTPatch modified.
2) Revert to your backup copy of RCT.EXE, that you made before installing the RCTPatch. Simply copy it to your RCT installation directory.
3) On the CD, there's a directory for your language version, for example "American". In that directory, you find a file called "RCT.1" This is actually the rct.exe, so just copy this file to the RCT installation directory and rename it to rct.exe. Then set the properties so that the file is no longer "read only".

NOTE: If you have uninstalled the RCTPatch, you will need to reinstall any official patches.

HELP:
Q: I can't install the official patch.
A: If you want to install any official patches or updates, you first have to uninstall RCTPatch. The official updates will only work on unmodified versions of RCT. For this reason, it helps to patch a copy of the executable instead of the default file. See "Installation Tip" above.

Q: RCTPatch indicates that "This is not RCT with the Expansion Pack." or "Patch unsuccessful!"
A: Make sure that you have either Added Attractions, Corkscrew Follies or Loopy Landscapes installed or one of the versions listed above.

Q: After playing for about 30 seconds, RCT quits with the message "Data File Corrupted or Inaccessible".
A: This message is not caused by RCTPatch. This message appears when RCT detects the use of a trainer and as a result that particular saved game will be inaccessible. To fix any saved game, download Henry Winkelstein's TRG RCT Trainer v6.02, which is available at the website posted below. Install and run the trainer, then click "Clean Config" on the "Action" menu. RCT must not be running. It should now be possible to load any saved game. Additional instructions can be found within the trainers help menu.

Q: RCTPatch indicates that it is "Unable to open RCT.EXE".
A: You probably have RCT running in the background. Close RCT first, then run the patch again. Otherwise, check the file attributes on rct.exe. It may be set to read-only. To find this file, run RCTPatch again; it will tell you the file name it wants to patch. Then open Explorer, go to the file and right-click on it, select "Properties", and make sure that read-only is unchecked.

Q: RCTPatch indicates that "RCT is not properly installed."
A: The RollerCoaster Tycoon registry doesn't have the "Path" entry that shows where RCT has been installed. This should not happen if the RCT installation was ok. RCT probably doesn't work either, so you'll have to reinstall it.
