Well it all started here on the internet March 2001. I was surfing around looking for a website that might make it eaiser to update my FAC. I stumbled upon the RCMP website and decided to have a look. After reading through the recruiting section I was hooked. I had wanted to be an RCMP officer when I was younger but decided not to go for it for a bunch of reasons.
So after a few sleepless nights and a lot of "rolaids" I decided to make a dramatic change in my life, one small step at a time.
The first part of the process was to attend a mandatory information session in April 2001. After sitting through the 2 hour session I was ready to take the next small step and sign up for the (RPAT). The RCMP aptitude test which was to be held in June 2001. Well I began to study and after 2 months of reviewing basic math and other stuff that I hadn't done since high school I was ready for the test. This was the deciding factor. Fail this test and I would have to start all over after one year had passed. I took the three hour test and went home for the longest wait of my life.......
July, August, September and Finaly I got my mark in the mail. 3.75 out of 5. I had passed. A pass is 3.2 but was it good enought to make the draft. I would have to wait until Nov 7,2001. That day I got my draft package in the mail. Well that started the frantic finding of my life history for the pkg. I aslo had to run the RCMP (PARE) test (physical abilities requirement evaluation.) I was a little nervous about this timed test but I did it with no problem.
So now I wait...... tick tick tick .. hopfully some time in March or April 2002 I will get a call that they have opened my package. Then I have the all important interview. Finaly a medical and dental and field investigation. If I have passed everything I'm in. My personal guess is that I should be in by October. It could be sooner or later.
