I went on my third ride-along last night. It was one of the best yet. It started at 7pm and ended around 4am. We had a few speeders and some liquor seizures. All in all it was quite an eventful night. We also got to play with the RCMP's new in car gps computer system. VERY COOL. This thing dispatched calls and had a real time map showing the town and all the streets and where every police car was at the time. It was only the 2nd day that they had  it in the car so I sat with the "How to" book in my lap for most of the night. It took forever to figure out how to turn the lights on the keyboard on.
Now that summer is upon us I will try to cram in as many ride-alongs in as I can.
I attended another information session last week in Nanaimo. I didn't have to but I thought that since it had been over a year since the last one I would see what's new and hear what's happening. They did say that the recruit allotment for "E division"(B.C.) is up from 100 recruits to 400.  Good for me... so here is hoping. They also said that the RCMP was changing the whole recruiting process and implementing the polygraph test. I don't think I will have to do it, but any new people applying from now on will.  Also they will be breaking up the interviewing process so that they do a security interview first. This basically meant that they could lower the rpat scores and allow more people to get through the system, weeding the bad ones out in the quick security interview.  Time will tell.
So again I wait for MY interview call. It is supposed to happen by the end of June.
