HALLOWEEN PARTY / LADIES NIGHT / INDUCTION OF NEW MEMBER

President On Call 24/7 by Pres. Dindo Santos

Halloween is an event we adopted from the Western World. Children dress up in different costumes usually the scary ones. They visit the houses in the neighborhood to receive some candies. It is not the usual practice here but we have our own Pangangaluluwa. They sing a certain song while stealing the pet chicken or piglet. This is in belief that the spirits need them in the afterlife. I hope that my memory serves me right; this is what I learned in Philippine Literature back in college.

Now a days, the fad is to hold a Halloween Party. The District just had one last October 25 at Valle Verde Country Club. The hall was well decorated including a coffin on the center stage and roaming scary creatures. Our sisterclub, RC Kamuning celebrated their 24th Charter Anniversary last October 28. What a way to celebrate an anniversary in Halloween costumes. And tonight we are inducting a new member in black, also in the spirit of Halloween.

These only show how diversified Rotary is. There are no strict rules in conducting a meeting. In some clubs they do not recite the Rotary Pledge, only the 4 Way Test. In others, there is no presidential table, the President presides standing all throughout the meeting, or the Sergeant-At-Arms is in charge in the emceeing. But despite the diversity of culture we are united in providing service and LENDing A HAND.
