"VOCATIONAL SERVICE: WORKING WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS"
Vocational Service often overlaps with Community Service and involves working with Rotary-sponsored organizations such as Interact, Rotaract, and Rotary Community Corps. Issues such as environmental protection, the elderly, disabilities, child protection, and drug and alcohol abuse have an impact on the workplace. The workplace can also be an avenue for increasing awareness about such issues. Interact and Rotaract clubs serve as a link to the younger generations. Through Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), young people receive intensive training in leadership and professional development.
Pooling resources with other organizations in the community can increase the potential of a project. Other organizations may be able to give additional insight into the needs in the community and provide project ideas. Many needs are most easily addressed by providing funding to existing organizations. But involving the members of the Rotary club in a hands-on, concrete manner in community service activities, whether through giving a talk on your profession in your club or providing hours of mentoring help throughout the year, can provide even greater satisfaction.
