President's Message
by Pres. Dante Verano
Our Health Care Project last Sunday at Calumpang Barangay Hall was indeed a good start. Our club was able to give free ECG, Blood Cholesterol, Triglyceride and Sugar determination service. Thanks to our indefatigable Chairman PP Eric Ignacio who was responsible for this project. Likewise to our kind doctor Rotarians PE Dindo & Rtn. Benjie who took care of the patients who lined up the Hall despite the rainfall. We are very happy to have our Governor Efren and Lady Pam who graced our project together with the IPP Tony, VP Kiko, PP Flor, PP Jun Farcon, Dir. Val, PS XC, PD Ed, Rtn. Floren, Baby Rtn. Claro and the ever loyal spouses: Pres. Noemi, Sps. Zeny F., Sps. Vising, Sps. Meldy, Sps. Julie, Sps. Arlene, Sps. Doris. Sa inyong lahat na dumalo, maraming salamat po!
Last Thursday we re-launched our website: www.rcmarikina.org. PE Dindo our industrious webmaster did the honours of surfing the website in view of all the Rotarians present. This website will highlight all our activities updated immediately after a project is accomplished. This is not only for our own consumption but the rest of the rotary world.
Tonight we are very lucky to have our CREP Chairman PP Jun Farcon who talked about "Back to Basics" I am sure all will learn and benefit from listening to PP Jun, a very knowledgeable Rotarian.
Let us all continue sowing the seeds of love, in our club, in our community, in our vocation and in the world.
I love you!

"ROTARY COMMUNITY CORPS"
One of the plans of Pres. Dante is to revive and reorganize the Rotary Community Corps. He believes that this is a big help in attaining continuity of the various livelihood projects of the club. Through proper coordination and supervision of the livelihood projects through RCC, we could easily reach out to the various communities and help provide jobs and improve their status in life.
Last July 13, 2002, Pres. Dante together with PE Dindo and Sec. Vincent, met the original group under its President Mrs. Lolita Abrigo. They discuss the various benefits that they got from being members of the RCC and how these helped them improve their lives and provide livelihood to the community. They were very enthusiastic to revive and reorganize the RCC so they set a reorganization meeting on July 27, 2002 at MRYC. Present during the meeting were previous RCC members led by Mrs. Lolita Abrigo, Nila Orozco, Florentina Castillo, Margarita Santos, Agustina Sejane, Prelyn Grajeda, Soccorro Caballes.
"HEALTH CARE PROJECT"
Our very own District 3800 Governor Efren De Guzman and Lady Pam graced our very first Health Care Project last Sunday July 14 at Calumpang Barangay Hall. PP Eric Ignacio, Project Chairman, lead the Team of Pres. Dante, PE Dindo, VP Kiko, IPP Tony, PP Flor, PP Jun Farcon, Dir. Val, PS XC, PD Ed, PS Floren, Rtn. Benjie, Baby Rtn. Claro. The ever dependable spouses: Pres. Noemi, Sps. Zeny F., Sps. Vising, Sps. Meldy, Sps. Julie, Sps. Arlene, Sps. Doris were present to lend a hand. Though it was a mild and showery morning many people waited to have their Blood Cholesterol, Triglyceride, Blood Sugar and ECG taken. Our energetic Rotakid D. L. was very lively in doing his share of distributing snacks and drinks to everyone.

"WHY PUBLIC RELATIONS?"
"In the promotion of understanding, it is important to reach large numbers - non-Rotarians as well as Rotarians - and you cannot reach large numbers privately." - Paul Harris, founder of Rotary
The practice of public relations varies throughout the world. But regardless of cultural differences from one country to another, Rotary clubs around the globe have audiences with which they should or must communicate. Developing a message and finding the appropriate way to deliver it is public relations in action.
The story of Rotary is a great one to tell. By sharing your club's accomplishments, you contribute to an accurate, positive image of Rotary in your community. Young people must also be aware of Rotary to ensure future generations of Rotarians.
Public relations should be directed to several audiences: local government officials, the business community and other civic leaders and organizations, along with people directly affected by Rotary service projects. Some clubs are reluctant to publicize their accomplishments, or they become discouraged when their efforts to reach the media are ignored. Furthermore, the subjectivity of many reporters' decisions and the disregard some of them have for public relations inquiries make placing stories a challenging task. This web section provides some basic guidelines for helping your club achieve media success and other forms of community recognition.
