Storytelling Contest

The 5th Story Telling contest of the Rotary Club of Marikina was held last November 9, 2000 at the Marikina Rotary Youth Center. A total of eight grade 5 and 6 students from eight public elementary schools in Marikina City participated in this yearly project of the club. Each of the contestants presented their best English stories before the Board of Judges composed of Mrs. Ma. Luz de Guzman, Mrs. Virginia Domingo and Mrs. Teresita de Asis Santos.

Certificates were given to the following participants: Ma. Perpetua delos Santos of Parang Elementary School, Ma. Cristine Nepomuceno of San Roque Elementary School, John Michael Makasakit of Barangka Elementary School, Minerva Jane Natividad of SSS Village Elementary School, Abeguil Belarma of Marikina Elementary School, Joryl Ong of Malanday Elementary School, Janina Perez of Industrial Valley Elementary School and Catherine Anne Batica of Nangka Elementary School.

The following emerged as winners:

1st - Joryl P. Ong (Malanday Elementary School)
2nd - Ma. Cristine Nepomuneno (San Roque Elementary School)
3rd - Minerva Jane C. Natividad (SSS Elementary School)

The three winners received cash prizes and their plaques will be given during the Awards Night on November 23, 2000. This yearly contest is intended to encourage public elementary school students to participate in talent competitions like this and to develop their skills in public speaking.
