Child Care Center

The Child Care Center was launched on July 17, 2000. But before the formal launching the children were initially screened so that they belong to the underweight group and that their parents cannot afford to send them to school. They were divided into two groups: ages 3 - 5 years old and above 5 years old.

The program includes primary health care, nutrition and literacy. The primary health care is handled by the club's physicians. This includes deworming, vitamin supplementation and regular physical check up. They are given nutritious meals prepared by a nutritionist. Literacy is through a formal pre-school curriculum.

This is held everyday from Monday to Friday 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the Marikina Rotary Youth Center.

Each child is weighed because in order to qualify, the child must be below the ideal body weight.
After weighing, the child is subjected to a thorough physical exam done by Rotarian physicians.
If cleared medically, Chairman Edwin Yutuc interviews the parents to make sure that the child passed all the requirements of the Child Care Center.
The children receive a nutritious meal during the launching.
