aircore colt The aircore Colt was my second airplane,
it was easy to build andeasy to fly. Although some parts of the instruction manual were slightly
confusing but even the moderately experienced modeler could easily put it together in two weekends
Flying is typical with any aircore plane heavy and sluggish, but very predictable. One large problem with aircore
planes is that the landing gear is very springy. It is almost impossible to land the plane without
bouncing it, even the local flying club instructor had troubles. I would reccomend replacing the
wire gear with stronger more conventional landing gear. The plane in the picture was in a relatively severe
crash. It went full throttle straight into about a foot of water. When I ran out to retreve it I noticed
that it was for the most part intact. It was sitting in the water with the engine gone, and the
wheels floating in the puddle. I jumped into the puddle and started scraping my hands on the bottom in
search of the engine. Luckally I found the engine laying in the road nearby. It survived well
and I would reccomend any of the aircore line of airplanes to anyone who is learning to fly.
Electric Plane This is a electric plane that I bought from the local hobby shop for $15.00 I haven't flown it yet but it is very light when it is fully loaded.
L19 Bird dog This is a model of an L19 bird dog,
it was given to my Dad by a friend. The wing is made out of styrofoam insulation (paneling) that was hand cut
and formed using a hotwire. The fuselodge is made out of project board which is styrofoam sandwiched
between two pieces of plastic. I don't know the size of the motor, but it is about the size of an
AAA battery with a large gear and I think it has an eleven inch prop. I have seen the L19 fly and
it seems to fly good. The servos are hot-glued on in certain locations to ensure correct Cg. Also
I know that you will want the wind to be dead calm unless you are a very experienced pilot.
