Sunday, August 20, 2001 - The Triple Threat's Launch has been the successful so far.  With the two pontoon design the Triple Threat glides on top of the water, stabilizing itself as it runs.  The Triple Threat was designed using Model Airplane plywood and balsa supports.  The combination of the last three projects.

The Triple Threat's maiden launches begin with a bump in the road.  The engine mount is to small is support the bloated engine (after the boat had been run) and in trying to get the used motor out of the mount the engine mount brakes apart.  This cut short our first trip and we only got one launch on an A motor.  The next morning I reattached the motor the same way and cut a slit in the tubing to allow some space for expansion this helped a lot in reloading the motors.

Sunday Morning we return to the launch site and prepare the boat and launching dock.  The morning is filled with humidity and a glaring sun, but most importantly there is no wind.  Making the water like glass.

The first launch we gave the boat a C motor.  The boat litterally shot out of the dock and glid over the water for about 100-125 feet a new record for me.  However the boat did flip over and cause the mount to come loose but not completely off.  The second launch used a B6 motor and the boat travelled for about 50-60 feet.  The engine mount was just hanging on by a strand of glue.  So in the interest of entertainment we decided to use one last C motor.  We knew it wouldn't work but we wanted to get some good  video.  After the engine ignited the tiny shred of glue tore apart and the engine was left free to wonder in mid air.  The video illustrates this well.

This is a picture of the Triple Threat with the Engine Mount Ripping apart from the boat.
