The Ultra Humanite�s mysterious accomplice brings a message to him with his hideout a mile below the White Lotus inn.
�Master Humanite I bring a message from my lord Kobra he wishes to know how much longer it will be before he can expect the Justice Society�s heads to be delivered to him.�
The Ultra Humanite looked at that puny messenger and with his big powerful arms; he smashed the work desk that he was working on. �Always with the interruptions I will deliver on my part of the bargain as long as your master delivers on his. Now if you will excuse me I have deaths to plan for.�
The messenger bowed his head and then retreated back through the secret tunnels to deliver the good news, while the Humanite cackled at the gullibility of his ally. �Fool not only have I prepared to get rid of the Justice Society, but I have planned your death as well once you deliver the new host that I require.� He snickered

The Justice Society finally meet with president of the United States George W. Bush Jr. to discuss this great crisis that has the nation in a panic and to their shock, they find their erstwhile teammate Wildcat had already arrived here before they did. Not wanting to draw the wrong attention from Yolanda or to be rude to the president Carter paid no attention to her as The president walked up to him and shook his hand as he welcomed them to the white house.
�I thank you Justice Society for showing up here today and agreeing to help us with this crisis. As Captain Atom has informed you The Ultra Humanite has made a list of demands on which if we do not deliver he will kill every man, woman, and child on earth. Since your team has the most experience with this vile fiend I have decided to leave it in your hands and I have asked General Beck to give you everything that we currently have on the situation.�
General Beck wipes the sweat from his baldhead and then takes over the briefing by showing the JSA satellite feeds of where they traced the ransom.
�We have managed to trace the origins of the signal all the way to Beijing China at an inn called the White Lotus yet we are unable to mobilize our forces to neutralize the threat especially in such a city with so many civilians and the risk of causing an international incident. We are hoping that your small force can go into Beijing with out causing any trouble with the Chinese government and infiltrate the compound we believe him to be located in then capture him to stand trial for his crimes against humanity. Be warned the Humanite has a terrorist named Kobra working with him and there is no telling what kind of arsenal they have stocked over their to keep you from your goal.�
�What can you tell us about Kobra General Beck?� Hawkman asked
�Not much Hawkman except that he is totally ruthless and will go to any lengths to accomplish his goals for world domination.� General Beck replied
Preoccupied by something he saw in the feed Doctor Mid-Nite takes his attention away from the meeting back to the feed and tries to figure out where he has seen this dragon symbol before when Beck and Carter adjourn the meeting.
�So what did he say Carter? Dr. Mid-nite said as he walked up to his long time friend and teammate.
�Well he said that he would like Captain Atom to lead this mission since he has the experience for what we are about to do. I basically agreed with him though I�m still unsure as to why I feel like something�s wrong about this whole set up.� Carter replied
�Well you�re not the only one friend I definitely think there is something up and I hope we get to the bottom of it before it�s too late.�
The six heroes� then head off to the hanger bay where they will learn how they will make it to Beijing to stop the Ultra-Humanite.

A lone figure stands at mansion doors of the brimstone waiting to for his moment to walk in and petition for membership in the most prestigious group of collected heroes ever yet an inescapable fear holds him back as he remembers the last time that he Al Rothstein petitioned for membership as the young hero Nuklon, but Now he makes his journey here as the older, wiser, hero known as the size changing Atom Smasher.
Al knocks on the door and waits for a response, but after a few moments, he hears nothing except the faint sound of a woman screaming. Donning his blue and red costume Al smashes through the front door and grows in size to meet whatever danger is lurking with in. As he gets a full view of what�s going on he sees Dr. Fate�s wife sprawled on the floor unconscious and Dr. Fate fighting for his life against a bunch of zombies wearing what looked like ancient Egyptian armor.
�Hang on Doc the big man express is comin through!� Atom Smasher said as he plowed through the army of the dead to get to his friend.
As he makes it to the spot were Dr. Fate is lying on the ground, he notices the deep gash across fate�s chest. �Are you all right doc?� Atom Smasher asks as he lifts the injured sorcerer
Dr. Fate looks up at his large friend through the slits of his golden mask, �I�will be fine, but we must�get out of here�if my power is to�be safe�from the dark lord� (1)� Dr. Fate says and then with the last of his energy he creates a portal to transport them to Fate�s Tower where they will be safe for now.
Meanwhile

Dr. Mid-nite looks over the useless pile of junk that they will be using to fly into Beijing and he is defiantly not impressed with the poor condition it is in currently.
�It�s an SR 71 Blackbird all right yet it is falling apart at the seems. There is no way it can make the travel to Beijing in the time that we have nor will these rusty motors be quiet enough for us to slip past those rebel megs that are surrounding the area.� Dr. Mid-nite says to his comrades.
After hearing that comment a man appears from behind the wreckage and says� Appearances can be deceiving my friend for your looking at a true work of art.�
�Who are you mister?� Dr. Mid-nite said
�The name is Irons, John Henry Irons and I designed this so called piece of junk, but of course your are only seeing its cloaking device.�
�Cloaking Device?� Hourman says,� Well it will have to be a good cloaking device because it still looks like jun��
At that moment as Rex was about to finish, John Irons turned off the cloaking device and revealed the Javelin six mark II. He then looked at the amazed faces of the Justice Society and smiled.
�So what do you guys think? I put every available man that N.A.S.A. could spare on building this flying dream and now the president has authorized me to give it to you to help in your endeavors.�
�I don�t know we can ever thank you Mr. Irons, but how do you expect us to fly it?� Hawkman asked as he took a closer look at the interior of the plane.
�It should be no problem for any of you to learn how to use it the Javelin six is probably the most advanced yet user friendly air ship out their. I am sure that each one of you will gain enough experience in flying it, but for now Captain Atom will be flying it until the rest of you get the hang of it.� John replied
The rest of the team then came over to look over the planes amazing features such as Suborbital to orbital flight, submersion mode (deep-water travel), and an array of defensive and offensive systems. Once every one got a good look at what the Javelin six could do Captain Atom called them aboard so the ship for take off for Beijing.
�How long will it take us to get their Nathan?� Alan asks as he flies in.
�About three hours and then we will be on foot from their so get as much rest as you can because this will be a rough trip.� Nathaniel replied
�Ok that goes for you too kid you were up all night since we got to D.C. so you will need the rest more then the rest of us will.� Alan says as he directs his attention to Yolanda
�Yawn! All right wake me up when we get their so I don�t miss anything will you Mister Scott.� Yolanda says as she starts to go to sleep.
Hawkman whispers to Dr. Mid-Nite who is sitting beside him,� Shiera should be catching up with us soon Charles and I want Yolanda to stay with her while we take care of Humanite.�
�Are you sure you want to cut her out of this Carter we may need her help on this mission I mean already we tried to ditch her on the way to D.C. to protect her and she still managed to make it here before us.� Dr. Mid-nite whispered back
�She is too young and inexperienced to be on a dangerous mission like this now I know I gave her membership on the team, but I never said she is ready for active status yet at least not until she is properly trained. Then she can join us as a more experienced member. I have put a lot of thought into this and I think I have a solution I know that Infinity Inc was supposed to disband due to Sylvester wanting to take over the mantle of Starman (2), but maybe we can form a junior team of trainees so we can train them for the day that we all will need replaced?� Hawkman asks his teammate
�Sounds like a good idea, but who will fill out the roster Carter?� Dr. Mid-nite says puzzled
�Well Yolanda is definitely going to be on that roster if we can find some way to talk her into it and I remember hearing of a youngster named Air Wave who would defiantly make a good candidate. I�m sure there are others whom we could find to train to be the next generation of Justice Society.� Hawkman replies
Across the room, Yolanda turns over in the portable medic-bed and tears flow freely from her eyes as she listens to her idols talk about demoting her to a junior team.
Fate�s Tower

Dr. Fate tends to his wounds as Atom Smasher helps Mrs. Nelson through the winding corridors to her husbands chambers.
�Kent my love are you all right?� Inza asks her beloved
Dr. Fate looks at Inza as he finishes the healing spell he just performed and then removes his mask to look at his wife, �Yes I�m fine it only took me a few moments to gather enough potions to concoct a healing spell. My power should be returned soon. Now Al what business did you have at the mansion may I ask? I thought Infinity Inc was going through some troubled times yet I would think you would be their in their time of need.� Kent replies
Al pulls off his mask to reveal the determined look on his face,� Last time I came here to the brimstone was to join the ranks of the JSA and this time is no different, but I have grown since then I go by the code name Atom Smasher now. Yet I found more then I bargained for when I saw the two of being attacked by those zombie creatures.�
Dr. Fate walks up to Al and places his hand on Al�s shoulder,� I can see the difference in you Al yet I am afraid when my wife and I arrived at the mansion we saw no one their at least until we were attacked by the Sons of Anubis.�
�Isn�t Anubis the Egyptian god of dead?� Al asked his elderly friend
�Yes Anubis is the god of the dead yet I am afraid that he is not the one who is controlling this army of zombies. For I believe my worst fears have come true as our newest foe is more deadly then any enemy the JSA has ever faced. For this being has no beginning or end to its origins. Its only goal is to eliminate the agents of order and chaos in order to claim my power. This being�s name is the Dark Lord Mordru.�
�So how do we defeat him Fate?� Al says as he dons his mask eager to defend his friend
�I am afraid I cannot answer that question all I know is that we must find the others before Mordru completes his task or all are lost.� Dr. Fate replies
For now, time is not the Justice Society�s side�

Twelve hundred and seventy three feet below street level, Mr. Terrific has finally gathered together the last four remaining members of his new team to discuss what their mysterious mission is.
�Okay every one I know you have all met me, but I don�t think you know each other so would you like to introduce yourselves before we begin?� Mr. Terrific said to his new team members.
The four empowered strangers looked at each other and then began introducing themselves. The tallest of the four new members with curly red hair and an Amazon figure started things off by introducing herself first.
�The name is Grace and I�m a bouncer for Cheney�s down in Metropolis. All I know is Holt here brought me in with the promise of making three times more then what I was earning. I have to admit I didn�t know he was planning on some kind super hero gatherin�.�
The slim emerald woman next her with the black, white, and green costume introduced herself next,� My name is Jenny, but they call me Jade because of my emerald power. I was told that we were going to work towards helping keeping rogue metahumans in line, but apparently, it seems that may have been a cover story.�
The other members already knew the red and yellow champion sitting next to Jade with flaming torch for hair, but Ronald Raymond decided to rub it in anyways. �My name is Firestorm I�m sure you all have heard of my exploits and great heroism. I believe that�s why Mister Terrific choose me for this team.�
The emerald archer sitting on the other side of Firestorm had the most famous reputation for everyone had heard of Green Arrow.
�What the bloody hell is this about Holt you told me that my services would be needed as co-financier of this group and a member of the roster. Yet I haven�t been told what the hell we have been gathered together for?� Green Arrow said as he looked sternly at Mr. Terrific.
Mister Terrific looked at Green Arrow who he had discovered was Oliver Queen thanks to Indigo�s memory banks and he looked at the group.
�You were all right about the reasons I brought you here for the four of you have special skills and abilities that may help decide the future of our world. Now I will let the person who lead me to the four of you explain our reasons for forming a new proactive team.�
Mister Terrific directed the four heroes� attentions to the door which lead to the conference room and in walked Indigo with a blue top and black skirt on. Her blue face stayed emotionless as she examined the room and her purples eyes ran a scan on the four people who are written in the legends of her people.
�Fellow heroes I welcome you for today we discuss the fate of our world in the years to come��
Green Arrow looked at Indigo and then back at Mr. Terrific he then got up and interrupted the android from the future,� Listen If you are going to give one of those speeches that you are from the future and that you need us to help you save the world then you can just save it. I have heard this speech before on my television now if you will excuse me I will be on my way.�
As Green Arrow got up Indigo started playing back one of her memory files,� If I am correct Mister Queen you of all people should listen to what I have to say because it concerns your ward Roy Harper and his addiction.�
�Damn it fembot your off your rocker if you think Roy is a crack head. I know that boy better then any one else in this world. For you to even insinuate that he is I should have you made into scrap metal.� Green Arrow fired back
�Do you Mister Queen then how do you explain his failing grades and his late nights out on the town?� Indigo calmly replied
�I�I just haven�t been their for him much you know I have been busy and everything that�s all.� Green Arrow stammered
�I do not think you can lie to yourself any longer Mister Queen your ward has a problem that he can�t kick alone. As for what I have to say it is no bullshit as you would say.�
Green Arrow looked at Indigo and then after a few moments walked back over to his seat to sit down.
�As I was saying certain events are unfolding as of now which are making this world more dangerous and soon metahumans will be strictly analyzed by the government for their potential threat assessment level. The only ones exempted from this is the Justice Society of America who has earned the trust of the president and the nations of the world. Other metahumans who have earned the disdain of the law will not take kindly to this invasion of privacy and will decide to rebel against the government which will lead to the creation of the Metacore a special metahuman detainment unit which specializes in the capture and containment of metahuman criminals. During the Metacore�s first couple of years, a former super hero starts stirring up racial statements against any and all metahumans. Riots start breaking out everywhere with innocent humans dying in these racial battles. Until a finally one day a man who calls himself Monarch appears and claims he will he free the people of the metahuman tyranny.
After his first appearance, he kills a metahuman super hero who has become a legend in the eyes of many other heroes to make his declaration of war on all metahumans and their accomplices. Eventually in ten years time the Metacore kills or ends up containing every super hero and villain on earth while the unsuspecting populace are unaware of Monarch�s true attentions. This is the future I come from where Monarch has ravaged the world and depleted the resources that where available to further his ambitions. He has killed many humans who have tried to rebel against his rule and any metahuman children who that born are immediately put to death so that his authority cannot be challenged. I was assembled by the very best that Star Labs and Wayne Technologies could afford to come back through time to avert Monarch�s genocidal conquest of earth.�
�Well ain�t that a kick in the head. It figures the government would give a little too much control to some buffoon in a metal mask. So what are we supposed to do about this travesty Miss Fembot?� Green Arrow asked
Indigo looked at Green Arrow with her deep purple eyes and with an emotionless response,� We must take whatever measures are necessary to prevent my future from coming to pass. Since my memory banks are damaged, I do not know who the traitor is that betrays his fellow heroes and metahuman kind. Therefore, we must suspect that any of our fellow costumed champions could be the traitor. As for Monarch there is no way of being certain who he is since I do not have the data available on what his true identity is.�
�Are you saying that we just go around beating up every costumed nut with and without powers?� Firestorm said, as he looked at Indigo confused
�No that would be illogical and it would be too much of our own time wasted. What I propose is that we prevent the events that create the instants that lead to the Metacore�s creation that way we will have ample time to find the person who is Monarch.�
The five heroes looked at each other before looking back at Indigo with their opinions on what she proposes.
�Though I think this idea will get us into a lot of trouble I am in. Like you said Indigo it�s my destiny to be a hero wither or not I grasp it now or later.� Mister Terrific said
�As long as I�m gettin paid then I don�t care what I hafta do.� Grace said
�I�m in though I�m still not crazy about this bloody fembot and this whole crazy situation.� Green Arrow chimed in.
Firestorm thought for moment before he gave his answer,� I always wanted to be a major league hero and maybe join the JSA, but being with you guys I will be doing something that really will be life changing as well as dangerous. I�m definitely in if you will have me.�
That only left Jade who looked at the others with look of uncertainty,� I am sure that we can do some good if we avert this terrible future, but I just�don�t know if I can believe in what we are fighting for.�
�Listen up girlie nows not the time to be pussy footin around if you�re having second thoughts then maybe Indigo was wrong about picking you for this team. Me personally I think you can cut if you stop thinkin and start actin.�
�Indeed Jade every word that I have told the five of you is true and the lives of precious millions hang in the balance. Their will be times that we will do things that will definitely put us at odds with the authorities and the local metahuman populace, but these measures must be taken.�
Jade thought about it for a few moments more and then looked up at the group before her,� I am in and I hope that your story is true Indigo otherwise I will not be the only one who will hunt you down if you�re lying.�
�Well now that we have settled all this pissing around what are we going to call this group of ours?� Green Arrow said as he got up and dusted off his hat.
Mister Terrific looked at everybody as an idea formed in his head, �There is only one appropriate name for us since we will be working outside the law and our fellow heroes�Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to the Outsiders!�
