Rockdale squads chalk up sweep McDONOUGH – The Rockdale boys and girls cross country teams took first place at the Henry County Invitational Meet on Tuesday. “We swept the meet that was made up of mostly 5-A schools, including Henry County, Morrow, Mundy's Mill and Jackson,” said coach Chad Suddeth. “In the girls meet, we had four of our girls finish in the top 10.” Placing in the top five for the Lady Bulldogs were Carys Fincher, who finished second with a time of 23:09, and Kayla Johnson, who placed fourth with a time of 25:31. Allicia Bellis and Katie Johnson rounded out Rockdale’s top-10 finishers as Bellis finished sixth overall at 27:14. Johnson placed ninth overall at 28:55. Jenna Williamson also placed in the top 15 for the Lady Bulldogs, coming across in 13th at 31:42. The boys squad was equally strong as the Bulldogs claimed seven spots in the top 13, including second, third and fourth place. Taylor Boggus took second with a time of 20:22. Brian Lunsford was right on his heels in third at 20:32, while Cody Leblanc placed fourth at 20:53. Timothy Van Heest rounded out the overall top 10 with a time of 21:09. “I am very proud of both team's effort in the early part of our season, especially considering the competition that we’ve faced and the brutal temperatures,” Suddeth said
