Japanese
workers remove a tent Thursday placed over a portion of USS Kitty Hawk's flight
deck. The tent could have become a
hazard if Typhoon Kirogi were to strike Yokosuka Naval Base, Japan.
The tent was used to protect the deck, which is undergoing resurfacing.

I took this picture with the paper's gigantic digital Nikon to support another reporter's story about preparing for Typhoon Kirogi. The truth is the tent was scheduled to come down that day anyway, but the editors were desperate for art of the base hunkering down for this storm that we worded the caption to suggest the tent was being brought down because of the typhoon. And the fact is it would probably have been taken down anyway as a precaution, so I think it was fair game to run with it like we did.
