"Slim Pickings" As Marine Corps broadcast journalist Tom
Archer's fingers slide across a borrowed acoustic guitar, he belts out three
self-penned titles and a hastily arranged rendition of Lynrd Skynrd's
"Sweet Home Alabama." We were at Club 666 Outlaw Bar in Iwakuni,
Japan, and the audience for this hardly sold-out show was myself, my friend
Julie, and two bartenders. Tom is one of those guys who has so much
talent, he's not sure what to do with it.
