"Day Ravers"

It's not always true the freaks come out at night. Atop a pedestrian walkway in Yoyogi Park, I discovered loud techno music, howling Japanese youngsters, and a full-blown rave in progress. They seemed to be in their own world; the blaring beat moved them in motions I doubt they could repeat in their conscious state. There was much color and a sense that the fun here was a little purer than its nightly counterpart at establishments like The Liquid Room. It may be naive to think that, but there's something about the daylight that makes it seem so.
