Sitting on the steps of a Pachinko parlor, a Japanese bongo player lightly taps out a tune.

Tokyo is a city that works hard and plays hard.  On this particular Sunday morning in July, there's a dread shuffle as mostly young adults try to make it home before they are caught in the coming heat of the early morning, when the cool night air is replaced by a stoic heat.

Sunday is a day of rest in Japan, so there won't be any salarymen on their way to the office to collide with the throng returning home.  In fact, there may be some salarymen in the crowd that is working its way out of the central city.

A smiling couple say "cheese."
