2004 Fire Safety Day
FF/EMT Kavacik shows some of the kids the "closet" on Pumper 5.  With the number of firemen that respond in the Riley area, we carry their bunker gear on the truck so they can meet us at the scene and make it faster to put out fires.
Captian Torres from Station 6 explains how important it is not to be afraid of firefighters in the their gear even though they sound and look scary they are there to help you.
REMEMBER- Get Low and GO!!
Captian Torres also showed the kids our new Thermal Imaging Camera recently obtained by the Riley City Fire Dept.  It was recieved through grant funds.  It is a very good addition to the tools we currently have.
REMEMBER-  If you can't get out, don't hide, we are there to help!
Fire Driver Holmes and FF/EMT Kavacik assist FF/EMT-I Smothers with an air demostration and afterwards let the youngsters try on all the heavy gear firemen wear to stay safe on the job.
