Course Description
This course is about the teaching and learning process in higher education settings.  Approaches to enhancing and improving the instructional process as well as related trends, issues, and controversies confronting college teaching will be examined.  The course will explore (1) the necessary elements to lead the required change process (2) policy development and methods of improving instruction in colleges, and (3) faculty development centers for the improvement of college teaching. Included will be discussions about transforming teaching and learning through technology.

     Introduction to course: syllabus, assignments,
     What makes a good teacher? What makes a good classroom? 
     Should we be concerned with  teaching or learning?
     Identify your philosophical teaching orientation.
     Be prepared to develop a statement on Faculty Expectations that a college could use for hiring, evaluation and development.

Grading
All materials must be completed and turned into Dr. Beck by December 2.  
1. Class attendance/participation including turning in portfolio
2.  Readings/web sites   - four
3. One hour oral presentation, chose topic related to issues, controversies related to the improvement of instruction in colleges.
4.  Faculty Expectations and Ideal ideal "program" or "activity" that would improve Instruction in Colleges.
