Rcc vs New Britain, It was
total domination by the Riverside Tigers, on a
beautiful spring day with great sunshine and a brisk
wind blowing a good 5 knot, the Rcc Green and Yellow
Sweater kept the bodies warm and ready to play ball.
Kaptain Tony Kallicharan
made all the moves as Rcc brought home the first Ct
League Victory for the 2000 season. Rcc Won the toss
and send in the opposition to face the fire of the
Riverside bowling machines, Ashok, JC, Chokshi, Rajie
and Tajie. New Britain made a good start but the first
wicket was claimed by Ashok da Avenja, starting the
season just where he left off in 1999. After the loss
of this first wicket NBCC stabilized the innings for a
good period but then it all went down hill, as
Chokshi picked up 2 scalps followed by Tajie 1 scalp
JC 1 scalp and Rajie 1 scalp, there was a great
run out orcastrated by the lion heart Ashok da Avenja
throwing one in from the boundy over the wicket as
Tony wiped the bails off> New Britain was pretty
much cooked as they racked up only 169 runs. This was
not a bad score as the pitch played very well and of
course when the ball hit the trees it was an automatic
2 runs.
During the Nbcc innings,
Rcc cheerleader and constant chatter box behind the
stumps and the most dangerous wicket kepper, Panther
Parehk was snatching up everything on the stumps.
Vijay had a great time as he kept the Nbcc batsman on
alert at all times.and his Rcc mates. Panther Parehk
was very athletic and aggressive and noting got by,
this man was possessed, at one time the crowd
thought they were seeing Air Jordon, as Vijay leaped a
good 4 feet off the ground and snatch an
incoming ball with one hand bringing it back over the
stumps, almost running the batsman out of the
ground.... great job Panther Parehk. keep it up baby!!
Rcc batting... openers
Mohamad JudgeMoka Khan and Vija Phanter Parehk
played some glorious shots and got riverside off to a
flying start. Moka played easy for the first few
overs and then started to entertain the massive crowd
with his infamous strokes, belting anything lose to
the boundary avoiding the trees. Vijay played a good
supporting role as he kep the runs flowing. but soon
Vijay had lost the battle and placed one in James big
hands. Vijay was back under the trees. at this time
the score was 32, Then Shannon arrived, who played
with his usual grace and elegance as the score kept on
moving, Moka was getting on the bowling but his day
came to and end when he played on to the stumps with a
leading bottom edge and his fun feast ended on 23 .
Rcc at this point was 55
for 2 and.. The Captain came in and stamps his
intentions from ball one letting Nbcc be on the alert,
Tony open his innings with an aggressive 2, this lay
the foundation for things to come. Shannon played on
but was un lucky as he got out after doing all the
hard work, but the captain kept the flow going with
batsman # 5 Ashok Da Avenja who by the way open his
account with an authoritative shot straight to the
boundary ropes. this was looking good, Well Ashok kept
the run scoring up on one end and the Captain kept it
up on the other end with some brilliant power shots
and classical drives, but then Tony was far from
satisfied with just going at this pace as he moved the
game into express mode hitting four massive 6's and
three 4's bringing his total contribution to a
whopping 74 not out ... great job Kaptain Kalli. in
the mean time Ashok was given lbw scoring a valuable
28 and JC played a cameo innings supporting Tony with
7 not out as Riverside totally dominate and won this
first game of the 2000 ct league... Doing it in only
in 29 overs for the loss of 4 wicket. Great job
Riverside Tigers... New Haven you are next
