Yes it was hunting time at the savannas, not by the tigers but the cavalries. A clash of gigantic proportion Riverside CC against Banks CC. It was a very steamy and humid day, not withstanding the blazing heat. I never saw so much cheap sun screen lotion. Players from both team was eager to get on with this contest as both clubs was not only going for the six points but also the trash talking bragging rights.  Captain Andre Mayers of Banks and Tony Kallicharan went in the middle and up went the 1/4 dollar, Rcc won the toss and some very interesting decision was made. Captain Kallicharan inform Banks that they can bat. Lets just analyze this decision for a brief moment, it was at least 90 degrees and 75 percent humidity and the sun was blazing down with a pitch made for batting.  Before both teams went on the field a moment of silence was taken, this is still a mystery and hopefully one day this reporter will get to the bottom of it and post it up on the Connecticut League Website.

Banks CC Batting: Opener Trevor Parris and L Brathwaite went to face the Rcc fire, this move by Banks Captain was some what strange, but after looking at it more carefully it was a brilliant idea to send in probable the worst batsman in the Banks team to open, that would be Trevor Parris, but this move was well thought out as most of you may not know, that at one time Banks Captain Andrea Myers was an Rcc member, and he used his inside knowledge to his advantage in sending in this weak opening pair, but it did payoff.  These batsman saw to it that the new ball lost its shine and gave the opportunities to the incoming batsman to go on the attack.
L Brathwaite did not survive too long in the middle as he was magnificently stumped by Vijay Panther Parekh off the swing movements of Ashok. In came R. Hurley, a new addition, fresh from the island and this guy made some classical shots well timed and the placement was to perfection. Hurley was not bothered too much but he was attempting to hit one over the ropes and at the Savannas the ropes are very far from the center, but all he managed to do was send a catch straight in hands of Raj Rai, Rcc version of Carl Hooper. Hurley was gone, yeah mon he was gone for a beautiful 30. In came Captain Mayers, of course he had all the knowledge of the Riverside pitch and players and he used it to his advantage racking up a personal best score.. keep reading you will know that later. Before we get to Mayers batting, an incident happen on the pitch, the large and loud Trevor pulled something, it was believed at the time that it was his groin, anyway Trevor had to exit off the pitch as he couldn't continue anymore. Five Banks players had to fetch him off, the guy is lagreeeeeeeee.  Mayers and Smith played on and launched Banks in a very good position, taking the score to 93 for 2. this was still early in the remaining overs. Andre was on his absolute best, watching and playing every ball carefully and choosing his shots. Smith of course is the fastest runner between the wicket next to Anthony Combs in the entire Ct League. Smith ran some very aggressive singles and always threaten to run on every ball that was hit.

Andre innings was full of power shots and delicate singles, running up and down, gasping for oxygen, but he manage to guide his team to a very intimidating total of course we all know there had to be some over the ropes, Andre bludgeoned three 6's over fence and slaughtered three 4's , he was all over the fours like he just got some!
The captain stayed with all the incoming batsman in the center as each came and went, doing this was the key in piling on the runs.He played a courageous and very sensible innings. Ok I know, the question how much did he score? Andre scored a whopping 86. He was bowled  gong for a big shot by Bodenaraine. The other contributors to the Banks score was Smith 20. Springer 21. Basil 12. Victor 14. Cousie Brathwaite 01. Skeete 07 and Trevor was able to walk back to the pitch and blasted a quick 22. "A conversation between Trevor and one of the Rcc bowlers.. Rcc bowler hurry up. Trevor oh really! bowler deliver, hit the ball for a four, Trevor you want me to hurry up, bowl again, Rcc bowler deliver, Trevor wacked it for Six.. Trevor reply to the bowler, are you happy now, I hurried up for you."  Well with that shot Banks brought their total up for a slamming fans appreciated score of 235 runs in 40 overs.

Through out all this, a decision by Captain Kallicharan boggles the mind of everyone in attendance and even the entire Banks Team especially the Banks Captain. Riverside Fastest and most Aggressive bowler Taj Khadar did not bowl a ball in this contest, what is more strange, the Rcc pitch is suited for Khadar bowling style a very solid and hard strip. The Fans in attendance was very disappointed that they did not get to see the raw aggression let lose on Banks. At the end of the game the
Ct League umpire that officiate the game ask the same question Why.

Rcc with the bat, actually this reporter is running out of disk space, no need to get into the details on a disappointing Rcc total. Riverside only manage to score 166.
Banks went home with six points and some ice cold Beer.

Man of the Match Andre Mayers  Scoring a fantastic 86
