Another whammy of a cricket game, this time it was the
boys across 1-91 North, The St. Lucia Cricket
Club. Were they ready to rumble at the Savannas of the
Riverside Tigers. Kaptain Kallicharan won the toss and
send the opposition in to face the bowling weapons of
Rcc. By the way the Sun was damm hot and no breeze
this time, I bet, this factor did play its hand in the
end result of the game. The St. Lucia team were very
well supported as hundreds of their fans was in
attendance, with lots of advice for everyone, even if
no one wanted to listen. Ok lets get to the main game,
The Action in the middle.
St. Lucia Batting: The opening pair
came and went very fast only scoring a welfare size
total, as neither batsman was up to the task of
staying in the sun and improving on their tan. Opener
V. Evans was looking good until he tried to play a
freaky shot, but before he could get freaky, the
Umpire Freaked him out by raising the infamous finger
giving him LBW, poor Evans only was able to score
8 runs. Riverside Ace bowler Chokshi claimed him. By
this time the game was moving in the right direction
for Rcc, but some one had to beat the bowling. Batsman
P. Arthur was run out for a duce. Maybe he should get
acquainted with the treadmill.
As the new pair of willow wielders came into massage
the Rcc attack, the sun was poking its face ah little
hotter by now. Batsman M. Willson and G. Jeanbaptise was
there to steady the St Lucia Ship and this they did,
actually they found the playing conditions just right
for their French cuts. The main destroyer that cause
Rcc pain was JEANBAPTISE, this chap played the bowling
all over the field with ease and enjoyment. Simple
put, a super charged 89, scoring almost 50% of the St
Lucia runs, to be exact this man scored 47.8 % of his
team runs, hitting eleven boundaries, including five
6's and six 4's to make matter worst he
scored 20 in one very painful over. This was one of
the best Ct League innings this reporter saw in a long
time. Shots was timed and placed to perfection, hardly
any slugging in this mans innings, hey if Lara got
problems, send this guy over, he certainly is mentally
fit for the action in the middle. As the game
progressed the fans were enjoying themselves rolling
on the grass, yes rolling on the grass, I recently
found out some contracted the poison ivy rash, they
were happy, what's a little ivy, scratch this.
Riverside did not give up easily, as Kaptain
Kallicharan introduced the secret weapon of Raj
Rai, this was a brilliant move, Raj had one mission
when he was given this responsibility, that is to send
batsman back faster than getting a happy meal at a
McDonalds drive thru, this he did indeed. "Raj
bowls to Jeanbaptise, played hitting the ball hard,
only to send a rocket of a catch to FunnBoy Khadar
receptive big hands, Jeanbaptise out walking back to
the stands in dis believe, still wondering how Khadar
held the ball. Raj Raj continued to use his magic
cleaning house, bowling over St. Lucia claiming 5
wickets, but Rcc still had a lot of work to do.
After a ten minute break and a beef pattie or two the
Tigers was on the prowl to take over, the St. Lucia
total of 189.
Rcc Batting: Well this was a real
spectacle, once again the Umpire made the wrong call,
a hint, one free coupon to Vision Conner, take two
coupons
Opener Vijay Parehk and Mohamad Khan took on the St.
Lucia attack and right off the very first over Khan
bludgeoned a short pitch delivery for a massive and
crowd pleasing Six, but as the groove was on, the
Umpire did his thing, Khan totally missed the ball
going down the leg six, St. Lucia quietly appealed and
guess what the Finger went up and the rest is history,
Vijay played with common sense and top score with 29.
The rest of the Rcc batsman on this day was not able
to meet the challenge set by St.
Lucia, as Rcc was bowled out for a meager 118 runs in
29.3 overs.
Man of the Match:
Jeanbaptise, G --- Scoring 89 runs
and taking 4 wickets
