A cricket game that everyone in attendance will forever remember, telling their grand-children about this a la cart Extravaganza, a 30 over Mothers Day Special. It was initiated by two visionary who are great in their own right. The teams in this contest of bat and ball was The Riverside President XI against The Combine Island All Stars. The All Stars had a bevy of extraordinary talent on their side with such great names like Joseph Dicka Dixon, Roderick Riley, members of The West Indian Social Club, also the hardcore talents of Wayne Bennet, Val Campbell, Everton Nelson, Country, members of The Caribbean Social Club with I. Delaire of St. Lucia CC and many more in action. Riverside President XI, also having an array of diverse talented players, including Vish Tiga Sanichara, Dhaval Chucky Chokshi, JC da Drummer Ballie,Mahadeo Big Hitta Ajodhi, Taj FunnBoy Khadar, Peter Ajodhi, Sanjay Patel, Vijay Panther Parhek, Raj Rai, and Guest Players Delroy Mandella Nelson and Thunda.

Before we get to the main course, I will say this, that Mr. Dixon was more than happy to use the telephone and make a call to FunnBoy Khadar at 6:45 am on gameday.As Khadar answered his phone, he thought it was a dream, thinking Dixon said that would be 2 dollars, we all know Mr. Dixon is not only a great cricketer but also a very enterprising entrepreneur $$. But Khadar soon realized that Dixon was only communicating the change of field at the Keney Park Oval, where the match was played.

The match conditions was simple awesome, temperature was in the mid 70's with clear blue skies and an eazy breeze from the southwest at 2 knots. The two captains at 1:45 pm walked to the pitch and flipped the Quarter Dollar, when the coin landed the Riverside Captain made the correct call of tails and without hesitation inform the Combine IX Captain that he will bat. This was a good decision by Captain Sanichara as he had a close look at the pitch. The surface was dry, giving assistance to both batsman and bowler.

At 2pm Umpire Sid Viscous Downer place the bails on stumps and the action was under way. Captain Dixon toss the ball to Riley who immediately had the batsman in trouble, with Vijay facing 4 moving delivery, on the 5th one he was bowled as the bails went flying over gully. At the other end Mahadeo Big Hitta Ajodhi couldn't believe what just happen. Well in came Peter Ajodhi and from ball one he did not hesitate playing everything with a full face and keeping Riley and Everton Nelson at bay, but Peter bravery came to and end as he was bowled by Everton . At this point The President IX was in deep trouble 2 -11. In came Raj Rai also known as a clone of Carl Hooper but on this day he played more like Courtney Walsh, actually not! , the LBW decision that was given, really was ridiculous, as Delaire claimed his wicket.

At the other end Mahadeo was getting a bit impatient, with Vish Sanichara in the crease, things was happening, the Captain played and created runs making something out of noting, while he was there he made a bookcase.not!.. but again another wired Umpire LBW, Vish was on his way back to the stands with a look of what the

***k was that. Next batsman in was JC Ballie who lend his experience and support to Mahadeo, now the Riverside batting took on a whole new meaning with Mahadeo on the attack hitting any and everything as they came, he basically clobbered the bowlers around. He Jahrey dem!! The action got hot and hotter as the word got out, fans were rushing in for good seats and eazy parking for all dem cars.

Mahadeo treated the bowlers with contempt flogging shots in all directions, hitting 6's at will, at one point he butchered two consecutive off side 6's followed up with a pull shot that made its way to the boundary ropes. JC was picking up the singles as the action continued around him. Quick singles was taken moving the scores up rapidly. Riverside was now looking in total command. Mahadeo reached his 1/2 Century in style as he belted one to the ropes for an orgasmic 4. As the fireworks went on the fans got louder and more animated, shouting all the comical language to the players. JC was on the verge to make a big score but was stopped as he was caught by Campbell. But this didn't stop the run flow as the ball kept moving out of the park.

Guest Player Delroy Mandella Nelson came in to bat and created damage; literally, Mandella was on a rampage matching shots with Mahadeo hitting sixes and fours on par, but Mandella paid the price, "Campbell into bowl, comes in, delivery to Mandella, the ball went sailing out of the ground over the stands and crash right into windscreen of a parked Nissan Pathfinder for a Godzilla size 6" , the crowd was silent for about 10 seconds, but it was soon learnt that the owner of the PathFinder was no other than Mandella, after this realization the massive crown in attendance was in an uproar jumping, laughing, screaming and everything else that they found funny.

But this didn't stop Mandella as the next delivery from Campbell was hit for another huge 6 almost hitting another parked car, when this happened, it created havoc, as spectators ran for their cars, looking for a safe spot, more like hiding their vehicles from Della. But it all came to an end as Campbell got his revenge removing Della. At this point the President IX was riding high as the big hitta Mahadeo continued his assault on all bowlers smashing boundaries and belting the ball all over the park. But as usual all good things came to an end as Mahadeo was bowled by P. Rudder after scoring an entertaining crowd pleasing 60 magnificent runs.

Riverside was not done yet as Chokshi and FunnBoy Khadar kept the runs moving, FunnBoy continued the assault on ball as he scored a quick fire 13 hitting a massive 6 landing in the spectator stand. Sanjay Patel came in and got stuck on the other end as Chokshi was given LBW and guest player TUNDA scored 2 duce, bringing Riverside President IX score to a very challenging 130 runs.

These guys after staying in the field for 25 overs was not up to the task of over hauling the President IX score, Roderick Riley made top scored with 42 knocking three king-size 6's. Joseph Dicka Dixon added another 20 runs, who was caught by the guy he called at 6:45 am., Funnboy raced to the ball, a good 15 yards flying to his right extending his 6' 2 frame securing the ball. With the excitement of the catch Funnboy placed his shirt over his heard and ran full speed at his team mates to celebrate.

The All Stars came up short as they managed to score 120 runs falling short by 11.with one over remaining, all things consider this was a great game of Cricket. Nuff Respect to Mr. Sanichara and Mr. Dixon for staging this entertaining game of cricket. The biggest winner on this day was the Game of Cricket. Congratulations to both teams!!
