Common Questions

  • I heard there were concerns about parking spaces at the beach house?

Yes!  If you look at the pictures of the beach house, it appears parking is tight.  We will be carpooling as much as possible.

  • When, whom, and how much should I pay?

You should make payments to Michael Poon.  The cost $40 per person for full-timers and $20 for part-timers.  You can pay Michael at any time up to your arrival at the retreat.  Cost only covers the lodging at the cabin and the following meals: late-night snacks on Friday and Saturday; breakfast on Saturday and Sunday; lunch on Saturday.  Eating at restaurants (like Saturday night), gas money, etc. are all extra.

  • Will Michael's bank teller accidentally deposit all the retreat money into my bank account instead?

Although Ming is undoubtedly looking forward to this prospect, believe me, I'll be on the guard for it this time. ;-)

  • What is our beach house like?

Shoreview cabin looks quite nice.  It has 3 bedrooms and 3 baths.  There's 5 color cable TVs (one with Home Theater system and surround sound), 2 VCRs, a DVD player, 2 CD players, full kitchen, washer and dryer, telephone, and decks (open, covered, and screen).  It has 2 queen beds, 2 queen sofabeds, a twin bunk, and a twin-size trundle bed.  That's sleeping space for 11 people.

  • What are the bed arrangements? Can we switch the bed arrangements around?

Please see the bed assignments if you haven't yet.  This is the "default" arrangement.  You're free to switch the arrangements around in any way that has the consent of all parties involved.

  • Are we having a message or service on Sunday?

Check-out is at 10 AM, so there is no formal service planned.  I encourage everyone to take time early in the morning or when we return home for some personal worship.

  • What time are we getting back on Sunday?

We have to check out of the cabin by 10 AM.  Those who leave at that time should get home around 2-3 PM.   If some people want to stick around and sightsee, that's more than fine -- just know that we can't return to the cabin after 10 AM.

  • Is there going to be a structured schedule?

No, not really. There's a rough timetable, just so everyone knows what's going on.  Most of us will probably hit the beach on Saturday.  You're free to visit other attractions, stay at the beach house, or do whatever you wish.  Please just let someone else (who's not going with you) know where you are.

  • I hear that Saturday dinner will be at a restaurant?

Yes, it seems we may have found a highly recommended, hole-in-the-wall seafood place. Those not interested may choose to find another restaurant in which to dine. We'll discuss it on Saturday.

  • Will there be coffee?

    Yes.

  • Will there be snacks?

Yes, there should be plenty of snack foods.

  • Can I suggest a certain type of snack?

The food's been bought, so no more suggestions will no longer be taken at this time. Thanks.
