Numazu Church of Christ
In our first weeks in Numazu we were introduced to the Numazu Church of Christ and Pastor Tomoyuki Shinozaki. It has become our church home in Japan.. Only about 1% of the Japanese claim to be Christians. The average church has about 20 members.
Sunday School is held for all children in the front of church. Each week a different teacher teaches the lesson and they all sing songs. Our church boasts families from South America, Tanzania, Michigan and Japan. Pastor often asks for a Bible verse to be read in Spanish, Swahali and English.

The Numazu Church of Christ does reach out to the community. It offers an Englsih language class that is studying Luke. I have been teaching that class since last October. Class will have eight to twelve class members each week. This summer three students from Ablene Christian University will come to lead individual Bible study in English and help at the church.
The fourth Sunday of every month church hosts an after church potluck. At Christmas, it was wreath making and lunch. On these  Sundays, we usually eat curry rice, pickled vegtables, fruit and green tea.
Tuesday night English Language Bible Study
The Easter fellowship was well attended. The former pastor and missionary, Elmer P.  returned to preach in the church he lead over 20 years ago The church potluck followed the service.
On Mother's Day we had another potluck with the men grilling hot dogs and then a pork, cabbage and noodle dish. The women were served and enjoyed their day.
