Junko  Yabe is an after school English tutor at Diayon Junior High. She has lived for nine years in the US in both Alabama and NY City. She is the most fluent English speaker we have met. She has become our tour guide and mentor. She has taken us to the Bernard Buffet Art Collection Museum. First we had to eat at an Italian Resturant. Connie is talking to the resident photographer. We did buy a card with one of his photos on it. The food was outstanding too. We are very thankful for her friendship and many helps.
Fusako Nakamura and her husband , Toshi, welcomed us to their home the first nights in Japan. She is an English teacher and a gifted writer. She is on the the NICE  Committee (Numazu Association for International Communications and Exchanges) that visit Kalamazoo. At her home , we were first introduced to important cultural  requirements ( like removing the shoes) and many new foods. They took us on tours of the city and helped us get settled in our apratment. They are friends to all who have met them in Kalamazoo.
Toko Sakaki is an outstanding English teacher. She  uses a variety of teaching styles to increase student involvement.  She has given her 9th grade Elective English to me for twice a week sessions. Toko has helped me to undestand the Japanese school system.

These are some of the other teachers at Daiyon JH. We had a dinner party after the Sports Festival. Each of these men speaks a little English. We talked about sports, fishing and music.
Keiko Ichikawwa  was the 2002-03 Numazu exchange student to Kalamazoo. I met her many times at Portage Central. She misses tocos and American movies. This is the normal high school dress attire. She attends a private school.  Keiko has helped us around town and she wants to take us by train to Tokyo for a day shopping. I want to take  lots of pictures.
