HAILEYBURY CRICKET GROUND
In order to support the cricket tour to South Africa 2001 of Haileybury College (where ricardo's nephew is a student), Ricardo offered his services free of charge to produce a painting of the school's cricket ground, situated in Hertfordshire, England. Ricardo generously donated the painting to be auctioned at a dinner in September 2001, with all proceeds to go towards the tour and to provide cricket equipment in the South Africa townships.
PRE-2001
After a full study of Classical art, Ricardo decided he must let go of the underpainting. To keep up to date of our times the techniques must reflect the current day.
Ricardo designed the 25th Anniversary of Independence, Bahamas, Stamp Issue, which reflects the rich culture of The Bahamas and it's history during the 25 years. The style of painting is based on the impressionist movement using free and loose brush strokes to complete a visual picture, showing that his years of studying give way to the inspiration found in Bahamian images throughout the Islands.
The 2nd Stamp Issue which Ricardo designed for The Bahamas, (First Day Cover out on September 21st 1999),is the popular subject of Environmental Protection, with a feature of Bahamian naturalistic sea life, coral reef, fresh water turtle ponds and barracudas.
Currently, Ricardo is working towards his 3rd Stamp Issue, Settlements of The Bahamas, for release July 2000. This stamp issue will consist of paintings of historic settlements of the Islands.
To close The Century, "Heritage" - the latest international exhibition of oil paintings, a celebration of Bahamian colour with thirty new scenes, representing the rich loyalist and afro-american heritage and lifestyle of this country.
