Comments - I visited Florida in 2001 and there I saw my first real airboats. They really rock! A few months later I decided to build my own airboat. A little bit smaller but not slower. And plenty of aluminium and steel around it wasn't hard to decide which material to use. I looked some pictures taken of a real boats and I draw my own plans. I spent several hours after work in my parents garage constructing the boat. It was fun. My dad also gave very good ideas and helped quite a lot (Thanks also!). All parts execpt motor and radio gear were made by myself or they were just normal hardware store stuff. So it is easy and cheap to repair if need to. Parts for the boat excluding motor and radio gear cost max 20€ (about 20$). Yes, all the aluminium was garbage for the factory so it did not cost much. I haven't tested it on water yet. It has top speed on snow and ice near to insane. I goes very fast only at 1/4 throttle on ice. It accelerates very quickly. But like all airboats it has no brakes so you must have a lot of space. Aluminium slides very well on snow and ice. But you must also have a quite strong servo to operate those dual rudders. It wasn't funny to notice at about 30mph that steering servo doesn't have enough power!
