Avro Canada CF-105 Arrow
The Avro Arrow designed by Avro Canada.  The project began in the Early 1950's and was cancelled in 1959.  It was designed to be a mach two jet intercepter which would be able to fly over the north pole from a Canadian base and shoot down Soviet bombers.  The airplane was decades ahead of any american or British design.  It would have placed Canada as a leader in the aerospace technology field, but it was cancelled in 1959.  Many people have different views on why it was cancelled.  Some say the aircraft design was flawed, others say Canadian prime minister John Diefenbaker gave the order to cancel it.  Many others believe it was cancelled because of american influence.  It was an great Canadian accomplishment, that was destroyed.
