Middle School Class Rules
1. Be quiet and listen while I am speaking.

I expect you to be quiet and attentive while I am talking. You should stop whatever you are doing and face me when I am speaking. You need to be looking at me when I am speaking because much of what people communicate to each other is non-verbal. It is highly rude and disrespectful to talk while someone else is talking.

Talk quietly to the people at your table while you are working.

Talk only with people at your table. Do not yell to me or to people at other tables.
I feel that social interaction is important in creative endeavors. This is a privilege you dont get in every class. If we cant keep the volume down to a reasonable level you will lose this privilege and we will have no talking.

Stay in your seat and raise your hand to ask me a question.
Dont walk over to me to ask a question. Wait patiently and I will get to you as soon as possible. I will do my best to ignore you if you dont ask your question in this manner.

2. Everyone has an assigned seat. You must stay in yours!

Sit down in your seat right away when you enter the room. If you are not in your seat when I take attendance you will be counted tardy.

There should be little reason to leave your seat. The supplies that you will need will be passed out to you. If you seem to be lacking something, raise your hand and I will bring you whatever you need. If you are out of your seat without permission, you will receive a detention.

3. Bags and personal items.
You must leave all book bags/backpacks in your lockers. Dont bring them with you. This is a handbook rule. I should have all the supplies you need for class, and these bags are unneeded clutter in my room. Things have been known to disappear in the art room, and I will not be responsible for lost, stolen, or missing items.

4. Respect the Art Room and help keep it clean.
It is everyone at the tables responsibility to keep the table clean. You are specifically responsible for making sure that your assigned seat is kept clean. There will be detentions written for not doing your part, or for leaving a mess at your spot.

You are responsible for the materials you use at your desk. There will be consequences for the willful destruction of school property. Return all supplies and equipment in a reasonable condition.

5. Respect other students.
Keep your hands and feet to yourself. Dont tease, bully, mob or call names. Continual bullying and harassment of students will not be tolerated and anyone that is doing this kind of behavior will be removed to the office.
Keep your language appropriate to school. Inappropriate language will get you a detention and it could land you in the principals office.

6. These things are always forbidden in the art room:
No radios, CD/MP3 players, Gameboys, or any other electronic devices.
Cell phones must be turned off and put away out of sight.
No food, candy, pop or gum.
Water in a clear plastic bottle is OK as long as it doesnt become a toy.
Leave your homework in your locker as this is not a study hall and I will not let you do work from other classes in my art class.
Rubber bands and toys will be confiscated.

7. Dont throw things.
Absolutely no paper airplanes allowed.
