The Collins-Maxwell student art club is a social organization that promotes the appreciation and understanding of art through student reflection, interaction and participation in the visual arts.
The art club is sponsored and mediated by Mr. Richard Byrd, art instructor at Collins-Maxwell.
The art club will meet in the art room - formally after school on some Fridays, and informally during the school day as is needed, and as time permits (during study hall time, Mr. Byrds prep time, lunch etc.).
The art club is open to all students 9-12 that have a sincere interest in art and wish to learn more about it. Students do not need to be enrolled in an art class to participate.
Participation in the art club will require that the student be able to attend meetings and contribute to the group. They will agree to abide by the rules of good conduct, and to stay eligible as outlined in the Collins-Maxwell student handbook (pgs. 20-21) Students that cannot abide by these requirements; who violate school district policies, rules and regulations; and that do not contribute to the group will be removed from the art club.
The art club will be involved with art activities. These may include: the painting of murals, trips to galleries, art lessons involving specialized equipment, visits by artists and/or trips to artist studios, sketching expeditions, helping with drama productions (set and prop designs and production), preparations for the HOIAC art exhibition and time to work on art projects. Any trips that we take will require approval by the school administration, and parents, and will take place after school hours. |
