| Collins-Maxwell is part of the Heart Of Iowa Activities Conference. Every year, on the first Thursday in March, a fine arts festival is held and is hosted by a different school in the conference. A select group of students from the twelve (or is it 14 now?) conference school districts is chosen to participate. There is a visual arts show/competition, and a concert in the evening by the band and chorus. The visual arts students are treated to a whirlwind day of activities. Gallery viewings, business site visits, and sketching trips are part of their busy day. Below are links to some of the highlights of the student's HOIAC experiences since 2001. |
| 2007 - Collins-Maxwell Yes that's right! It's our turn to host. What a huge honor and responsibility. I'm going to need everyone's help with this one. I'm looking for strong support from my awesome Art Club kids this year. Still doing lots of planning, but I think I've got a handle on it. It'll be here before you know it!!!!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hoiac ended up being cancelled because of a blizzard. I learned a lot about how to set up a show and a trip and the experience of organizing something like this was fantastic, even if there was no eventual payoff. I truly feel sorry for all of the kids that worked so hard and didn't get to experience this event, especially the seniors that will not get a second chance. |
