| Semester 1 Assignments
Art 1 and 2 students will be studying 2-dimensional art first semester. Specific details on the individual assignments will be given to you each week. The assignment areas first semester for both art 1 and 2 will be: August Drawing - Create sketchbook/journal; clip books; idea generation. September Drawing - Compositional non objective drawing � space division Cutout space drawing; perspective refresher course October Printmaking - Block prints - Lino and/or wood November Painting - Stamped paintings; Emulation of a masterpiece; RAFT paper on the artist that painted your masterpiece. December Acrylic Painting � Painting of choice on 18x24 board Art 3 and 4 students will be studying advanced 2-dimensional art first semester. September Painting - Watercolor painting October Printmaking - Silk Screen Printing � Photo emulsion method November Painting � Watercolor painting Canvas stretching and preparation December Alkyd Painting � Painting of choice on stretched canvas Semester 2 Assignments Art 1 and 2 students will be studying 3-dimensional art second semester. The assignment areas second semester for both art 1 and 2 will be: January Mosaic - Tile coaster February Copper Foiled Glass - Sun-catchers March Ceramic Pottery - Candleholder or incense burner April Soap Stone Carving May Evaluations; critiques and electronic art portfolios Art 3 and 4 students will be studying advanced 3-dimensional art second semester. The assignment areas second semester for both art 3 and 4 will be: January Mosaic - Tile trivet February Copper Foiled Glass - Larger window hanging March Ceramics - Intro to the potter's wheel April Alabaster stone carving May Evaluations; critiques and electronic portfolios These are all just general guidelines for the months that we will work in. There can be some overlap or adjustment in these times/dates if more or less time is needed for a specific project. Some projects can be changed at the discretion of Mr. Byrd and can be dependent upon time, space and material allocation. |
