stair master

Erin had to learn to climb stairs using her walker before she could be released from the hospital. In no time at all she was the "Stair Master"!

goin' home
Sittin' in the car waiting for Mom to air up the flat tire! Boy, once they wheel you out of the hospital, they are finished with you. It took about 1/2 hour to get enough air in the tire to get us home. Fortunately, Erin had been given a Morphine injection prior to departure and didn't seem to mind the wait!

Erin continues to improve and amazes us every day. She had her first post-operative doctor's appointment (10-5-00) and the surgeon said that
she was doing extraordinarily great. She's young, healthy and in shape,
and her healing is ahead of schedule. Granted, he usually does this
operation on 60-year-olds instead of 17-year-olds, but we like the news.

She will begin water aerobics for physical therapy
soon and is looking forward to some activity!

By the way....she's an inch taller!
Now she's 5'6" and proud of it!

Update 2/17/01
Erin continues to amaze everyone with her progress. Each month
she sees her surgeon and we are extremely impressed with how
rapidly her bone growth at the fusion site is. Except for not
being able to bend over and tie her shoes, you'd never know
she'd had anything done. It's amazing! In fact, the bone growth
is progressing so rapidly that the surgeon would like to remove
the metal hardware in April. Since she will be graduating in June,
and wants to be able to enjoy the Senior Trip, we will wait until
early July for that surgery. She should be able to start college in
September on schedule. And....she should be able to play SOCCER!!
