The next day we took the next short hop to South Haven. South Haven offers a lot to see and do.  The municipal marina operates three locations along the Black River.  They do take reservations but only for stays of three days or longer.  The South Marina is the most popular due to its location close to downtown shopping and restaurants and is the first facility that you encounter entering the harbor.  The other municipal facilities include the north marina and one at the Maritime Museum.  The staff are very friendly and they go to the assigned slip to assist arriving boats dock.  For boats arriving without reservation, they will not assign a berth until the boat is in the channel at the lighthouse.

The turn into the basin is at the end of the dock at the headquarters building.  While in port, we had a chance to visit the Maritime Museum that has a very interesting display on the Coast Guard.  Dinner ashore was on a floating restaurant, Magnolia Grill.  After dinner we walked out to the South Haven Light to watch the sun set over the lake.
