In a nutshell, I make videos. Wait...that sounds like I do porn... I am a video producer for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). My supervisor and I run a full-production video studio that serves the entire agency.
My job is multifaceted: I conceptualize, write, shoot, direct, design, edit, animate, pretty much the whole schmeer. Our productions range from 30-second PSAs to half-hour narratives; time-sensitive news stories to more general documentary-style features. I also compile and release NOAA footage for worldwide use by news and independents, maintain a footage library and the day-to-day studio 'stuff.'
Actually, I spend most of my day cracking jokes and doing impressions with Marc Kagan, my so-called boss, but don't tell anyone.
Below are links to some articles about me and/or my work. Okay, I admit it. They're gratuitous plugs in case Spielberg visits and wants to hire me.
About the pictures above: (Click the thumbnails for full-sized versions.) The one on the left is during a shoot with pro golfer Rocco Mediate in Jacksonville, FL. He did a Lightning Awareness PSA for us in 2001. I see it on TV every now and then.
The picture on the right is a shot of the Avid Xpress workstations where Marc and I spend most of our time in the studio. That's an old picture. We've upgraded our technology since then (meaning we've acquired more wind-up toys to put on top of the monitors.)
