Seasons and Bag Limits
- Big Game
With three big game species in
Nova Scotia, white tailed deer, black bear
and moose, hunting enthusiasts will find ample opportunity to
enjoy their
sport. Hunting seasons are in the fall of each year. As the season
dates
and bag limits may vary from year to year, please consult the
annual
Summary of Hunting and Furharvesting Regulations for details.

Bag Limit One (1) bear.
Note: Hunters are permitted to hunt only at
Black Bear registered bait sites.
Snaring
October 10 to November
7, including Sundays
Bag Limit One (1) bear
Open only to Residents with a valid Fur
Harvester Certificate.
White-tailed
Deer
Bowhunting * Limited Entry Hunt (Antllerless Deer
September 29 to October
25, Draw)
and December 3 to
December 8,

Bag Limit One (1) deer per
calender year for all hunters.
Deer hunting is limited to
antlered deer except for those
hunters having a valid
Antlerless Deer Hunting stamp
affixed to their deer hunting
license.
Note: Bowhunters who kill a
deer during the bowhunting
season cannot hunt deer during
the general deer hunting
season. Requires a valid
Bowhunter Hunting Certificate,
a valid Deer Hunting License
and a Bow Stamp.
General Open Season
October 26 to December

Bag Limit One (1) deer per
calender year for all hunters.
Deer hunting is limited to
antlered deer except for those
hunters having a valid
Antlerless Deer Hunting stamp
affixed to their deer hunting
license.
Moose
September
24 to October 6,
excluding Sunday
Bag Limit One (1) moose
Open to Residents only. 200 licenses issued
by a draw. Hunting is only in Inverness and
Victoria counties. Each licence holder may
designate up to two companions who can fully
participate in the hunt.
